SUMMARY OF 1100 AM EDT...1500 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- LOCATION...37.5N 76.3W ABOUT 30 MI...50 KM NNE OF NEWPORT NEWS VIRGINIA ABOUT 120 MI...190 KM SSW OF DOVER DELAWARE MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...30 MPH...45 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...NE OR 50 DEGREES AT 17 MPH...28 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1009 MB...29.80 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- A Flood Watch is in effect for... * Portions of Eastern Virginia * Portions of Southern and Eastern Maryland * State of Delaware * Portions of Southern New Jersey * Portions of Southeastern Pennsylvania DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 AM EDT (1500 UTC), the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Chantal was located near latitude 37.5 North, longitude 76.3 West. The post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the northeast near 17 mph (28 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue. Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph (45 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1009 mb (29.80 inches). RAINFALL: Post-Tropical Cyclone Chantal will continue to produce heavy rainfall across portions of Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania today. Additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches, with locally higher amounts, is expected. Isolated to scattered flash flooding is possible.
