Ŀ Ŀ ķ Ŀ Ŀ Ŀ Ķ Ŀ Time to post your goals for the week of 5/06/95. Be sure to post progress from last week as well. If you are a Writer's Workshop lurker, come and join us in posting our goals for the week. You will be glad uou did! Post weekly goals! Give it a try, just once. I promise it will really help keep you on track with your current projects. Send out the GOAL POST every week by Saturday. Make it a habit to start posting your goals with us. My goals for last week and progress report... 1. Get the work done on the car. We found someone to do it finally! We took the car in on Tuesday and got it back on Thursday at 10:30 P.M.! But it's finally ready to take a stroll through DEQ. Yeah! 2. Get the May issue to the printer and sent out. It's at the printer's, finished, but it will be Monday till I can get it sent out. The hold-up is not being able to cash checks that are made out to WWR. PLEASE, make subscription checks out to me. It makes things a whole lot easier. 3. Send packet to publisher. I did it! I finally sat down and forced myself to do paperwork! 4. Have some fun! I confess. I failed miserably on this one. This turned out to be a work week. My goals for this week are to.... 1. Mail out the May issue. 2. Do the newsletter for the writing club. 3. Place text into the June issue. 4. Money providing, take driving tests. 5. At least make appointments to visit a couple of local editors about work. 6. Call another editor I know and ask about the possibility of doing an occasional article. On a personal note: This was a productive work week. I got a lot accomplished besides just meeting my goals. That part of my week felt great. Other than work I'm a bit on the stressed out side but I'm hanging in there. Since it rained most of the week and the car was in the shop, I didn't get to get out and do anything. But I did get a nice phone call from a woman in my writing club who just sold her first book. She is very excited and I'm excited for her. Her agent has already asked for her second book and a third! Sounds like she got a pretty swet deal too. I just love a good success story! My dear, sweet copy editor has agreed to edit MY book so I'm going to start sending her a chapter or two at a time and maybe I'll have an agent by this time next year. Fiction writing doesn't come easy to me so Patti's help is invaluable. I have great faith in the story though. The hard part for me is giving characters their own voices and adding in description. Having written mostly nonfiction, and working as an editor for the last two years have caused me to edit my novel too much. I have great faith in Patti's work and I know we can pull this thing off. Rhia Have a great writing week! Read on for more information about Writer's Workshop and Writer's Workshop Review Magazine. WRITER'S WORKSHOP PRAYER The Writer's Workshop is a place where myself and several other writers of vastly different backgrounds in writing, hope to come to discuss the ins and outs of the writing business. This is a place we hope will become home to writers who take what they do seriously, be they beginners or seasoned professionals; people who want to learn and share with others. We encourage everyone to share the rejections and of course the highlights, so that we can celebrate with you. This should be a place of sharing and a place of laughter, NOT A PLACE TO SHOW OFF OR CONDEMN! Everyone is welcome to share their views, but PLEASE, NO PUBLIC BASHING! (Use E-mail for that. <G> |
