That sounds pretty rough.. This past winter I stayed at my place all winter
after years of wintering elsewhere in a 'proper' house. My place is not
really insulated for winter use so keeping it warm enough is tricky and
I spend a lot of time outside digging paths in the snow to do things like
get water from a hole in the ice, so I tend to notice the cold and snow
more than I would in town where I could just stay in on a bad day.

I'm also thin, so less natural 'insulation' which maybe doesn't help.. B)

Wow, that would be quite a trip on a scooter! I see people using them in
town the odd time but it must be hard when things get snowy and icy.

DI>I also should start making a Thermos of hot cocoa or beef broth to bring with

That looks like a nice one but, as you said, it's a bigger investment than
one might expect.

Ha.. reminds me of an old joke.. A Thermos keeps hot things hot and
cold things cold and, How does it know?? B)

DI>I turn 53 next month and I have to remind myself that I'm not 18 anymore...

I just turned 71 so I know the feeling. I'm in unusually good shape for
someone my age but.. also not 18 anymore.. B(
