I used to love the cold. I still prefer it over the heat but with diabetic
neuropathy and arthritis, the cold now brings on an additional element of
constant pain after a week or so of cold. I plan on buying a larger, thicker
winter coat in September as well as a few pairs of long johns.

Where I am, we generally don't get snow and ice until January or Februrary so
I still enjoy taking my mobility scooter to the local veterans' hospital I'm
seen at. It's about a 10 mile (16 km) round trip which is usually doable but
last year, I noticed that I have become much more sensitive to the wind so I
need the long johns now. Thankfully, my prosthetic shoes are very
well-built and made of high quality leather so my feet don't get too cold.

I do wear a wool hat and insulasted gloves. I may have to start wearing a
ski mask hat as my face seems to be a lot m,ore sensitive to cold and my skin
is becoming much more sensative to cold.

I also should start making a Thermos of hot cocoa or beef broth to bring with
me to enjoy along the way too. A good Thermos bottle is a real investment
these days but well worth it! I like this one: https://tinyurl.com/2trp5xdn
(amazon.com).

I turn 53 next month and I have to remind myself that I'm not 18 anymore...
