Hi August, Rob and All Others reading this thread. Many years ago Jean Parrot wrote in the FIDO Windows echo about his using a Ubuntu live CD to see what Linux was all about. So I d/l'd Ubuntu 7.04 to see for myself what it did. I never installed U'u (as Jean called Ubuntu) only ran a Live CD. Played a bit with the Terminal, which to Me was kinda like MS-DOS. Looked around the GUI programs and read some Help files. Later on I got later versions of U'u to play with. Even a couple of LTE versions. I haven't booted any of those CD's in years. I enjoyed learning how U'u worked. Also tried Mint once or twice. Here, the computer is My Playtoy. I call it my all purpose machine because it can be used to write letters, do Math with a spreadsheet, save photos off my digital camera etc. etc. Ed --- SBBSecho 3.20-Linux * Origin: capitolcityonline.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/HTTP (618:250/1) |
