The Office (UK) has been the basis of several other English and non-English variants, though. Sanford and Son was based on a British show, Steptoe and Son. I need to see the original sometime. There was a show in one of the Scandanavian countries... I think it was named after the link between them and mainland Europe... that was later remade into a British/French show called, IIRC, The Tunnel, which links the UK and France. It made me curious about the original.
